Bar Nineteen Below is set beneath the prestigious Crowne Plaza Hotel in the city of London. Recently refurbished in September 2008, Bar Nineteen Below’s contemporary design provides a relaxed and inviting lounge atmosphere. Its ‘underground’ location gives it an exclusive feel and coupled with opulent decor it has become a popular after-work drinking spot.
The aim of the refurbishment was to rebrand and upgrade the bar to coincide with the launch of the bar’s new website www.nineteenbelow.com
The brief of the project was to give the bar a sense of space and establish a sophisticated club atmosphere. The project began in January 2008, and continued progressively throughout the year. The concept and interior of the bar was designed entirely in-house. Everything from the carpets, to the furniture was replaced and a new colour scheme of browns and red hues was introduced to create a warm, welcoming feel.
Bar Nineteen Below achieves a chic lounge atmosphere through a combination of soft lighting, warm colouring and a variety of textures including oak flooring, rich wood panelling and a long, sleek concrete-topped bar.
Through the main stretch of the bar the Prima tub chair from Boss complements the original banquette seating in luxurious brown leather. The Glass Room, towards the rear of the bar provides a glass fronted secluded space which can be hired for private functions, whilst still feeling part of the bar. The Glass Room is accompanied by a scattering of Prima and Zoot tub chairs from Boss which are also upholstered in a soft brown leather and provide a cosy setting against the lush red carpet. |
