Motorola is a leading global mobile phone handset and network telecommunications provider. 2006 saw the company relocate from its regional headquarters to stunning new office facilities in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

Tim Tourville, Director of Real Estate, Development and Facilities Management described the chief driving force behind the move: ‘The current building didn’t reflect what we wanted as an image from a branding perspective.

’To coincide with massive investment in the Motorola brand and due to a re-alignment of business from the US to the UK which almost doubled headcount the only option was to relocate to a new and more appropriate office location.' Tim continues: ‘We addressed the branding issues and we now give our customers and visitors a really good impression of our operation.’

The new interior design has given Motorola the opportunity to work with a relatively new palette of colours. Tim explains: ‘This is the first site where we have been able to introduce our Workplace Mobility Concepts and new colour spectrum within global Motorola.

The enormous yet chic reception is a fantastic introduction to the vibrancy of the new interior space. The renowned Boss Design Zoot chair and two seater sofa are utilised in the waiting area and complimented by two glass Rota coffee tables.

In fact this site is being used as a benchmark for what we are doing elsewhere, including the US.’Within the informal meeting spaces Boss Designs Zoot seating range and Rota coffee tables were the ideal collections against a backdrop of bright orange. The design objectives for the new headquarters included creating a bright, smart and forward thinking appearance.
