About the Project

2008 saw West Lindsey District Council relocate from 4 existing offices to a brand new open plan combined-office space, designed specifically for the council as part of Marshall’s Yard, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.  Dalby Developments Ltd were the company responsible for the interior design, space planning and furniture specification.

Project Aims

West Lindsey’s goal was to achieve a modern, forward looking Council.  With over 250 employees it was essential that all areas were as functional as possible and in an open plan environment.

About the Project

The ethos of the project was long-term investment as the council recognised that quality investment would equal a long-term saving.  To make future communications easier it was decided that only one manufacturer per area would be utilised.  Boss Design was selected for the project seating requirements.

Hilary Wright of Dalby Developments Ltd describes what qualities placed Boss Design a cut above the rest: ‘It was the sheer variety and combination of high-end Boss Design products and its more affordable Komac branded products which meant that the seating requirements could be supplied through one manufacturer.’

She added; ‘This winning combination offered both a great range and allowed for enough budget for the high end Boss Design products for the public areas.’Key pieces from Boss Design such as the Choo and Adda ranges were used in the reception area to create impact and lift the profile of the Council image.  To support the project budget the highly practical yet stylish Dream chair from Komac was employed in the back of house meeting spaces.

To satisfy the design needs of the project, particular pieces were produced through Boss Designs bespoke service offer.  The Event bar stool was used in the open plan office.  In its standard format it comes with a show-wood seat, however the bespoke requirements of the project saw the use of a fully upholstered contemporary striped fabric which created a completely unique look for the barstool.

The whole of the design process for the interior of the new office space was interactive to ensure that all members of staff would be happy with the finished result.  Several open sessions were arranged where staff could drop in and view plans, colour schemes and finishes.  These took place throughout the project and led to the stylish, fully functional contemporary working office space.
