Windsor High School and Sixth Form based in Halesowen, West Midlands, is a flagship school within the local borough and was graded ‘Outstanding’ in 2008.  The high profile secondary school needed a dedicated area that they could treat as a boardroom to accommodate significant meetings, such as governor and trust meetings, VIP visits and Sixth Form Student Council and educational debates.  A new state of the art sixth form building had been completed in 2009 and incorporated a room that would be ideally suited for this purpose.

Headteacher Keith Sorrell and his PA Lorraine Gaskell had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve in this very important space.  They had met with several suppliers but had not been able to source a meeting table to their exact specification, or any accompanying meeting chairs to fit with their vision. The aim of this room was to depict an executive atmosphere and to incorporate a table that would comfortably seat approximately 20 people.  It was important that the look and feel of the room portrayed professionalism and sophistication to support the high standard that they wished to achieve. It also needed to be a room that could be maintained for important occasions, so it needed to set itself apart from the other rooms in the building.

After visiting the Boss Design showroom at our headquarters in Dudley, the team at Windsor were very impressed by the quality and breadth of product choice and chose Boss Design to furnish the room.  Boss Design was able to meet their specific requirement for a bespoke shape and size of meeting table.  A Pegasus table was designed and manufactured to the specified dimensions 5500 x 2000mm and the ash veneer table top was cut into a barrel shape to compliment the shape of the room. 

The classic low back Delphi chair was selected in black leather, creating a distinctive contrast to the ash finish of the 8 legged Pegasus meeting table. Initially the Delphi chairs were specified with a cantilever base, however due to the numbers of people that may be required to sit around the meeting table at any one time, Mr Sorrell switched to the swivel chair base option to allow visitors the maximum flexibility in the chair. 

In addition to the Delphi visitor chairs and bespoke Pegasus meeting table Boss Design also supplied accompanying credenzas, one with the facility to house a 46’plasma television screen and the other with an integrated fridge.  Boss Design was able to offer the school a choice of products in ash veneer that could suite in with the Pegasus table. The overall impression of the room certainly achieved its original objective, that of professionalism and sophistication.
