Boss Design is delighted to have been involved with the Energy Heroes campaign organised by Dudley Climate Change.

The initiative which targeted everyone in the local borough was designed to raise awareness of green issues and celebrate the achievements of local environmental projects.

As a Carbon neutral company and major local employer, Boss Design was asked to join the judging panel to help identify individuals, schools, community groups and local businesses that had made a positive contribution to reducing their carbon emissions and their negative impact on climate change.

The awards saw a variety of initiatives from renewable energy installations and growing local produce through to walking buses for school children.  At the award ceremony a primary school, a charity and a local resident were all awarded with the first ever Energy Heroes award.

Speaking about the initiative, Virginia Seaward, Head of Operations, Boss Design said;

‘The campaign has been a real success for the local area and I am thrilled to have been a part of it.  Reducing waste and carbon emissions is a major priority for our business and we believe that we have   a duty to share our knowledge with others for the benefit of the planet.’

The ceremony was attended by cabinet member for environment and culture Councillor David Stanley, chair of Dudley Community Partnership Sarah Dugan, director of Dudley Community Partnership Dennis Hodson and leader of the council, Councillor Anne Millward as well as the nominees, winners and sponsors.

Councillor David Stanley, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:
It was so difficult to pick a winner from such an excellent range of projects.  The variety of activities was astonishing and it just goes to show that there are so many ways we can all play our part in reducing Dudley borough’s impact on climate change.’

He concluded:
“I hope that this will encourage more organisations and individuals to take action to reduce energy use.’

The awards were organised by the Dudley Climate Change Group and sponsored by Dudley Community Partnership, Black Country Chamber of Commerce, Business Link, Boss Design, Dudley Council, Groundwork West Midlands, and the Environment Agency.
