The Hard Days Night Hotel came to life recently for the second in a series of industry Design and Wine events. The occasion was a fantastic success with over one-hundred and seventy guests taking part in the evening’s entertainment.

Design and Wine’ is the brand that industry partners Tektura Wallcoverings, Boss Design, Desso, Johnsons Tiles and Panaz use to promote their interactive evenings aimed at the UK’s Architect and Design community. The idea behind the event is that the partner companies contribute components and materials into boxes, then each participating team has sixty minutes to design a product. This time the emphasis was on fashion, and the resulting outfits were amazing.

Lauren Fazackerley, Business Manager for Boss Design said; “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with some of our high calibre partners at the Design and Wine events. It is a fantastic way to bring our clients together for a really fun and interactive evening!”

On the night there were twenty-eight teams representing A&D practices from across Liverpool and Merseyside, and even as far as Manchester. Each team had to nominate a model and then had an hour to dress them in the most elaborate costumes possible.

The end result was a fashion show allowing all participants to vote for their three favourites. The overall winner of the competition was Liverpool 2020, with joint runners up Inprogress and Shrink Architecture all sporting weird and wonderful outfits.

Lola Bodansky, Interior Designer at Inprogress said that the highlight of the evening for her was; “seeing the Boss being stitched up, or should I say taped up with funky wallpaper and gorgeous silk fabric...it was worth second prize!”

The night didn’t end there, a Beatles tribute band was organised to ensure that everyone remained active into the early hours of the morning.

The Liverpool event was the first of many for the UK. Thursday October 2nd will see the event move to The Baltic Newcastle, where we anticipate a similar turnout.

Melanie Guest, Manager of Tektura Wallcoverings said;“I think many of these people missed their real vocation in life. They could have been the next John Galliano!”
